Pool Lifeguard Award

The Pool Lifeguard Award is Irish Water Safety certified, is internationally recognized and is the recognized qualification needed to become a Pool lifeguard in Ireland. No previous life guarding experience is necessary.

Candidates must be over 16yrs. With the majority of swimming pools only max 1.5m deep there is now a Level 1 award. The level 2 is needed to work in pools deeper than 1.5m.  Holders of the Level 1 award can up-skill to the Level 2 without having to complete the full award

Course Trainer:

Ronan O’ Connor our chief instructor teaches all levels of the Irish Water Safety syllabus. Ronan is one of the most experienced instructors in the country and has been teaching and coaching all aspects of lifesaving since 1996.

He has competed for Cork at both national and international level. Ronan also coached the Cork senior and junior lifesaving teams for 6 years. Ronan has coached and guided competitors to become national champions and members of the national squad. Ronan was also a beach lifeguard for 7 years and senior lifeguard on Garrettstown, one of Corks busiest beaches
