Beach Lifeguard Award
The Beach Lifeguard Award is Irish Water Safety certified and is the recognized qualification needed to work as a Beach lifeguard and Surfing instructor in Ireland, It is internationally recognized .
Candidates must be over 16yrs of age and have a good level of swim fitness (swim 400m – 8min)

Pool sessions: Fridays Feb 8th – March 22nd (7.30 – 9.30pm) Park Hotel Dungarvan
Open Water Training: Sat 30th & Sun 31st Ardmore Strand
Exam: Sat 6th April
Beach Lifeguard Award: 2019 Halloween Course
This course is an intensive course run over 1 week. Candidates must be at the required fitness to apply for the course – Swim 400m in under 8min and be able to swim a min of 1km

Beach Lifeguard Re-validation Course:
Date: Saturday 6th April Location: Ardmore Time: 12 am
The re-vaildation course takes place over 1 day and includes the examination. Candidates will be examined in the open water elements of the Beach Lifeguard Course and also in Basic Life Support & AED.
Candidates must hold a current Beach Lifeguard award that is due for renewal
Ronan O’ Connor our chief instructor teaches all levels of the Irish Water Safety syllabus. Ronan is one of the most experienced instructors in the country and has been teaching and coaching all aspects of lifesaving since 1996.
He has competed for Cork at both national and international level. Ronan also coached the Cork senior and junior lifesaving teams for 6 years. Ronan has coached and guided competitors to become national champions and members of the national squad. Ronan was also a beach lifeguard for 7 years and senior lifeguard on Garrettstown, one of Corks busiest beaches
