Rescue Emergency Care (REC)

The Rescue Emergency Care First Aid awards scheme provides training that is specific to the Outdoor, Expedition and Wilderness Environments. It was designed to meet the needs of those who work and play in often challenging environments.

REC 1 is a one day [8 hour] course which focus on the skills needed to deal with life-threatening emergencies and incidents in an urban environment before the arrival of qualified medical help.

REC 2 is a two-day course [16 hours]. The first aid course is designed to introduce a systematic way for managing casualties. The course is a balanced mix of theory and practical and consolidated with simulated real life scenarios.

This course can be tailored to meet the requirements of special interest groups

  • Environment: heat stress • cold stress • hot injuries • cold injuries

  • Rescue: transportation • communication

REC 3 is the approved course for Canoeing Ireland, Irish Sailing, Mountaineering Ireland, Cycling Ireland and other Sporting NGB’s

The course is designed to meet the needs of those who work professionally or play in the outdoors. The course introduces a systematic method of first aid for managing casualties. The course is a balanced mix of theory and practical and consolidated with simulated real life scenarios.
